Ferromancer

Iron Souls - Book #1

by

Becca Andre is a friend and colleague of Lindsay Buroker, who is one of my favorite indie authors. I'd read a Becca Andre book a couple of years ago and wasn't crazy about it, but for some reason I decided to pick up Ferromancer.

It's better than I expected. It follows the story of a young woman named Briar Rose (named after a boat, not the plant), who just wants to be a river captain... except trains are a thing and her brother is a dick. Nasty combination, especially when the genius behind trains knows her brother. She kidnaps him... and all hell breaks loose.

Andre's writing is on par with Buroker's, and her characters are equally creative and memorable. Andre and Buroker both lean toward the romance aspect of their books, and Ferromancer is no exception. It's not raunchy, but it's romantic. I mean, who doesn't like a good love story? Jerks, that's who.

Ferromancer was good enough that I picked up the next two books in the trilogy immediately after finishing it. I was COMPELLED to see how this story ended.

If you're a Buroker fan like me, you'll enjoy this.
