Damselle in Distress

by

Damselle in Distress is a wonderful take on classic Grimm's fairy tales. It stars a young woman named Damselle (pronounced dams-ELL, not like "damsel"), a subversive take on the fairy tale genre. Damselle's magical power is that she's always in distress and needs to be rescued. Well, starting now, she's going to stand on her own!

Kiley Kellermeyer's first book takes us a wonderfully subversive yet nostalgic journey through the magical Fairy Tale kingdom. It's probably targeted at young adults or college-aged readers, but I enjoyed it enough that I contacted Kiley and ordered an autographed copy for my book collection.

If you enjoy Grimm's fairy tales or Shrek, then you'll probably enjoy this.
