The Gates of Hell

The Shards of Heaven - Book #2

In high school, we listened to a BBC audio version of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. I had never been so enthralled in a play before. In fact, I credit it with being one of the factors that led me into theatre as a major in college.

And so it's no surprise that when I first read The Shards of Heaven, I devoured it and relished every word. Michael Livingston did a phenomal job with it -- there are good reasons why it's one of my top favorite books of 2015!

So when The Gates of Hell was published a few days ago, I snapped it up on my Kindle and snuck away from the family during Thanksgiving at every opportunity to read more and more of this fantastic world.

I won't go into too much of the plot, because really, you should just read it yourself, but imagine if the powers behind Poseidon, Moses, Hermes, and Alexander the Great all came together in one place. Toss in the Ark of the Covenant and some good old fashioned fight scenes, and you've got a winner.

The Gates of Hell had... I won't call them twists, but some pleasant surprises -- and some horrifying ones!

I really can't recommend this book enough. Pick up The Shards of Heaven first, if you haven't already, then run to your local bookstore and buy The Gates of Hell by Michael Livingston.
