The Dark Forest

Remembrance of Earth's Past - Book #2

by

This is the sequel to The Three Body Problem, but it's not quite the same. Where the first book was a mystery, the second was less of a mystery and more of an exploration into the consequences. Cixin Liu, the author, takes us on a fascinating tour of possible ways for Earth to somehow escape destruction and through the psyche of those unlucky enough to live through it.

Much like the story of Ziggy Stardust, the world has just four hundred and fifty years until Doomsday -- and it's up to a handful of men to come up with a plan. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but this book reminded me a lot more of Neal Stephenson's Seveneves than anything else. If you enjoy hard sci-fi or you enjoyed the first in this series, you'll enjoy this.

Two thumbs up!
